Information

Wild Outside parties and sessions are run by two experienced Level 3 Forest School Practitioners, Karen Weatherston and Heather Welsh, who are trained in Outdoor First Aid and members of the PVG scheme. We use the woodland and open spaces of the former SAC campus at Auchincruive, by Ayr, or local woodland or wild space near you. Full risk assessments of the site, tools used and all activities are carried out to ensure that sessions are as safe as possible and the risks involved in the activities are properly managed.

Our public and product liability insurance is provided by Birnbeck Insurance Services, and covers our provision of Forest and Beach School activities for children and adults of all ages.

Booking is essential for all our sessions so that we can prepare activities and equipment that are suitable for the size and age of the group. Please contact us via the form or telephone number on the contact page.

Parties - what we provide and cost
We will bring all the equipment and materials required for the party, which will include first aid kit, fire starting and fire safety equipment, any tools required, wipes and antibacterial gel for hand washing, a filled piñata, hot chocolate, drinking water, biscuits and marshmallows. Please let us know in advance if any of the children attending the party have any dietary requirements or allergies to these items so that we can check ingredients, and where possible, provide an alternative.

The minimum charge for a party is £120 for up to 12 children. Additional children are charged at £10 each. A deposit of £20 is required on booking a party and the balance to be paid by cash or cheque on the day. Cheques can be made payable to Wild Outside.

You are of course very welcome to provide a cake for the party, although we would recommend that additional food is kept to a minimum.

Consent Form
A consent form, downloadable from our website, is required for each child attending a Wild Outside party or session. Please complete this form in advance and bring along on the day. This form gives us important information to safeguard your child's health and safety, as well your contact details should we need them during a session. It also lets us know if you mind us taking your child's photo. All information on the form is treated as confidential and we do not keep forms unless your child will attend several consecutive sessions.

What to wear
As we aim to run sessions in all different weather conditions, it is important to bring the following:
• Comfortable boots/wellies which can get dirty and wet
• Waterproof jacket and, if possible, waterproof trousers
• Hat (either woolly or sun, depending on the weather)
• Sun cream if hot
• Old clothes you do not mind getting dirty which fully cover legs and arms.

Toilets
We do not have access to toilet facilities at Auchincruive.

Where to meet - Auchincruive
From the Whitletts roundabout, take the exit for Mossblown and proceed to the entrance for Auchincruive in approximately one mile. Turn right into the Auchincruive estate. Take the second exit on the left, passing through a barrier which will lift as you approach. There is a car park immediately to the left where Heather and Karen will meet you. Please advise your guests to arrive ten minutes early so that everyone can enjoy a full 2 hour party.

Cancellation
Although we go to the woods most weather conditions, high winds or particularly severe weather may make the woodland unsafe. In the unlikely event of us having to cancel a party we will contact you as soon as possible and arrange a suitable alternative date.
